Blog > 8 Fun Things To Do At Armature Works in Tampa, FL
Tampa, FL is so close to so many tourist attractions that tourists tend to miss the jewels present in Tampa itself. If you haven’t heard of Armature Works, you are missing out. The Armature Works is one of Tampa’s most incredible hot spots. You simply have to take part in the following eight things in the Armature Works to really understand how awesome this place truly is.
1. Explore the History
At different points inside this massive old building there are plaques telling you about important things. Be sure to stop and read them so you can get a really good feel for the history of the place.
2. Dine in or Carry Out
There are a number of restaurants and bars that have taken up spots in the Armature. From sweet treats to sushi, from coffee to cocktails, you will find something delectable at every turn.
3. Shop for Unique and Artisanal Gifts
A sort of “open air” market, the Armature offers everything from homemade soaps to jewelry to art and more. On certain days of the week, every stall and every booth is open to shop, a truly European experience within Tampa city limits.
4. See a Live Show in the Armature’s Historic Theatre
This beautifully restored space was where Tampa’s streetcar operators would come and go and even stop for refreshments when their shifts ended. It now showcases live performances throughout the year.
5. Attend a Community Holiday Celebration
The most recent New Year’s Eve Party at the Armature was quite incredible. People gathered (masked, of course) to ring in the new year with fireworks, music, food, drinks, and dancing. Future events for Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, etc., are in the works.
6. Take a Class
The “Show and Tell” space at the Armature is frequently the spot to take a class on cooking, bar tending, drink mixing, etc., a favorite with the locals. It will definitely keep you from getting bored.
7. Attend an Expo
Some states have these big, ugly expo halls. Not Tampa! The Armature serves as the perfect expo space because of its sheer size and square footage. Wedding Expos are on tap soon, as are Outdoor Expos, Camping Expos, and Boat and RV Expos.
8. Take an Exercise Class
It’s hard to hate exercise when you are in such a grand old building like the Armature. Yoga is offered a few times a year and runs for a few weeks. A “run club” is also available. Other exercise classes coming soon.
